I’m not a coffee drinker, but I know a lot of YOU are which is exactly why I post coffee inspired recipes!
Over 18,000 studies have looked at coffee use over the past few decades. (Wow – That’s a lot!) Coffee gets both a bad reputation and a good one. How do we sort truth from myth?
After looking at a few of these studies, I have come to the conclusion that coffee provides some incredible benefits. Granted, we’re not talking about the Venti half white mocha, half cafe vanilla, with 2 shots poured appigato style (over the top) with whipped cream and caramel drizzle frappachino. That is a sugar and calorie overloaded health disaster with zero health benefits.
Studies show that up to 4 cups of 8 ounces (yes, 8 ounces – not 32) of black coffee may reduce the risks of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. Coffee’s antioxidants may prevent some damage to brain cells and boost the effects of neurotransmitters involved in cognitive function. So, basically, my take away is coffee keeps your brain humming along smoothly.
Moderate coffee consumption has also been linked to a lowered risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, lower rates of stroke than non-coffee drinkers, and nourishes your liver.
Let’s take those benefits and combine them with my all time favorite drink – Protein Shakes!
Protein powder is an excellent protein replacement for vegetarians, vegans, and non-meat eaters of every type. Protein powder is also great for people who exercise and need to slam a few more g’s of protein after a workout than the normal person, or for someone who might not have a chance to prep their protein-packed meal.
High protein meals and protein shakes ward off hunger, keep you fuller for longer, preserve and nourish your muscles, aid in weight loss, deliver your daily dose of essential vitamins and minerals, and improve your immune system.
It’s time to grab your Blender Bottle and get shakin’.
