A Beginners Green Smoothie | Nourished Existence 58

I’m sure you’ve heard all the hype about green smoothies by now.

They are a quick, easy, and delicious way to get more greens into your diet. They’re full of fiber, antioxidants, enzymes, and chlorophyll. Green smoothies are also one of the best ways to digest and absorb nutrients from greens because the blender helps to break down the cell walls, allowing your body to easily absorb those nutrients.

Despite knowing all of these wonderful benefits, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t completely unsure when I first started considering green smoothies.

The more research I did, the more comfortable I became. It seemed like everyone had the same advice. “Start with mild greens, add in fruit, and build up from there.”

Green smoothies make it easier for busy people to get their daily dose of fruits and vegetables in quickly.

This is a great intro-recipe to green smoothies.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Monster


  • 2 Handfuls of Baby Spinach, Rinsed
  • 2-3 Strawberries, Chopped
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk (Alternative: Coconut, Rice, or Hemp Milk)
  • 1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder (Alternative: Chocolate Almond Milk)
  • 1 teaspoon Maca Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter or Nut Butter
  • 3-4 Ice Cubes


  • Combine everything in your Magic Bullet, Vitamix, or Blender
  • Blend on high
  • Pour into a glass
  • Sip and Enjoy!

Once your taste buds become accustom to spinach in a smoothie, start adding in celery or one kale leaf and see how you do. Another option is to add 1 teaspoon of Spirulina or Kelp powder to smoothies. One of my personal favorites is the cleansing Apple, Kale, & Celery Smoothie.
